Some Achievements of Isaac Newton

Everybody must be aware of the name of the famous scientist and mathematician named Isaac Newton. He made great achievements in mathematics, optics and physics; laid the foundation of modern science and thus brought a new revolution in the world. Who can forget the famous Newton’s Laws of motion! He was the first one to discover the relation between external force and motion.

Sir Isaac Newton was born in 4th January 1643 and was an English physicist, mathematician, astronomer, natural philosopher, alchemist, theologian and one of the most influential men in human history.

We have heard all about his greatest achievements so let us know about them in detail.
The Newton’s Laws of Motion became the founding principles of mechanics and told to people about the relationship between force and motion. He published his works in the ‘Philosophieae Naturalis Principia Mathematica’ in 1687. The 3 laws of motion were: - Law of Inertia that says that every object remains to be in a state of rest or motion unless acted upon by the external force; Law of acceleration which states that force is equal to the momentum per change in time and Law of action and reaction which states that every action has equal and opposite reaction.
Newton even devised the law of Universal Gravitation which says that all particles of matter in the universe attract every other particle, that gravitational attraction is a property of all matter. The law explained many things, from the orbits of the planets around the sun to the influence of the moon and sun on the tides.
Newton also discovered Calculus which was a great achievement in the field of mathematics. The various properties such as direction and speed which are in the continuous state of change with time was told by him. With the help of Calculus, Newton could determine the length of curves, draw tangents to curves and solve problems in classical geometry. It is because of this that he could work easily on the astronomical research.
Isaac Newton proposed the new theory of light and color by working in the field of optics. Using prisms he could discover that sunlight is made up of all the colors of rainbow which could not be separated but recombined into a white light.
Interesting to know that he also devised the reflecting telescope to view the distant objects clearly and solved the problem of chromatic aberration with the help of mirrors instead of lenses.
He is also regarded as the father of Modern Science. He was an alchemist to turn base metals to gold, even found the universal cure for diseases. He even invented many elements of modern scientific method.

Thus we see that Isaac Newton contributed in various fields of mathematics and science and made other revolutionary discoveries. He is thus called as the most influential scientist in the history and the one who will always remain as an inspiration and an ideal in the hearts of scientists and students.
